How to Get to Disney World from the Airport

Gone are the days of Magical Express! Disney announced that the complimentary shuttle from Orlando Airport (MCO) to Walt Disney World® Resort would end in January 2022.

I fielded tons of questions from clients about how they’d get from the airport to The Most Magical Place on Earth and back again. Living in the bubble is pretty fantastic, and once you’re on property Disney provides free transportation from parks to resorts to Disney Springs® Area. Rest assured there are lots of options for every travel group and price point to get from Orlando Airport (MCO) to Walt Disney World® Resort.

There’s not a best or better option, there’s really just the option that works best for you and your travel group.

  1. Mears Connect driven by Sunshine Flyer is a shared motorcoach option and only available for Walt Disney World® Resort. It is available from Orlando Airport (MCO). It is the same company as Mears Private, but they run separately from each other.
    • Cost: Adults $16 one way, Children $13 one way
    • Child Safety: Car seats are not needed on this transportation.
    • Tip: Not included
    • Times: 7am – 10pm flights only, note they run past 10pm but only pick up a flight landing at 10pm or earlier.
pro tip star and sparkles

All transportation options pick up 3 hours prior to your listed flight departure when returning to the airport. Example, 9am flight, pick up time will be 6am at your resort.

  1. Mears Private Transfers – they also offer bus options, but I don’t recommend those, so you won’t find much about that here. The private transfers are on the recommended list.
    • Cost: Up to 6 guests, Luxury SUV or Minivan, approx. $120-140+ tax one way, $230-250+tax round trip
    • Child Safety: Car seats available for all sizes, one car seat is included, others at a an additional cost
    • Tip: not included
    • Bonus: Executive limousine, Executive van, stretch limousine also available
  1. Away We Go Transportation Private Transfers offers private transfers at a great price, and bonus – it was started by former travel agents so they have a knack for customer service and lots of Disney knowledge! Away We Go also offers airport transportation from Sanford Airport (SFB) at a reasonable price. This is rare, most options don’t go to Sanford and those that do are pricey.
    • Cost: 1-11 passengers $90+tax and fuel surcharge
    • Child Safety: Car seats available for infant, 5 point harness, and boosters
    • Tip: 18% gratuity added to reservation
    • Times: Pick up is arranged in advance, usually 3 hours before flight
    • Bonus: Away We Go also offers options for transfer from Disney to Universal, and from Universal to both airports.
    • Double Bonus: For a small extra fee they will
      • Drop you at a park and your luggage at your resort
      • Stop for a grocery store trip on the way, or pick up a prearranged order
  1. Florida Magical Tours & Transportation offers private transfer for individuals, and groups – large or small. They were my go-to for a very, very long time. They’re good at what they do and they’ve been doing it well for a long time.
    • Cost: $125 (4 people) – $400 (14 people), varies based on group size and vehicle choice
    • Child Safety: 1 free booster or car seat included, additional $10 each
    • Tip: included
    • Bonus: 15 minute grocery store stop included
  1. Uber/Lyft
    • Cost: varies by group size and time of day
    • Child Safety: car seats not always included, some available based on rideshare selections at booking
